How it works
How we catalogue plugins
We collect free instruments and effects and make their basic details easier to compare.
What belongs here
We look for plugins with an available free edition. A plugin may also have paid editions or optional extras; its profile describes the free edition we list. Time-limited demos are not treated as free editions.
Our discovery archive includes additional listings whose current availability and compatibility have not yet been independently checked. A system and format listed separately do not necessarily work together.
Compatibility
We use the maker’s product pages and documentation to record operating systems and formats. Format availability may differ between operating systems and processor architectures. For checked picks, the combined system and format filter shows only recorded combinations; a missing result is not proof of incompatibility. Archive results show possible matches when a source lists both labels separately, and the combination still needs checking.
When a maker says “VST” without specifying a version, we record it as VST rather than assuming VST2 or VST3.
Software and requirements change. Before installing, check the maker’s page for current versions, exact requirements and download instructions.
Corrections
If a detail needs correcting, email hello@freeaudiovst.com with the plugin name and the relevant maker’s page.
